We take a very different approach to fitness. For us at Revolute Movement Academy (RMA) it is not only a physical matter, it is multi-dimensional. Physical, mental and spiritual fitness are interrelated and we believe it is the latter two that determine the edge one athlete will have over the other. Because of this, our coaching style is integrated. When an individual begins their journey with us, they are presented with this apparatus.

The Physical – seT Goals, Race youRself fiRsT

Physically you will set measurable and assessable goals, you will work towards them, achieve them and then exceed them by setting new quantifiable targets. This way, you compete first with yourself rather than look to hit someone else’s standard. It is ok to set really high goals but the process has to be planned and incremental.

Each athlete has to be built from the ground up; regardless of the level of each individual, certain elements have to be covered before others. For example, you cannot be expected to do an overhead squat if you cannot do an air squat and so on. Your development will be incremental but solid from the bottom-up.

Understand that your reality is an extension of your thoughts. Not every thought, but the ones you believe in the most. This is the basis of what we call ‘faithful thinking’. How you think is absolutely crucial to how your life pans out and in here, how you think is an intrinsic part of how you progress. There is nothing you cannot do. There are things that you may or may not be ready for at any given moment but that doesn’t mean you will not be able to do them at some point in the future. Hence it is absolutely crucial that you have faith in yourself and your unlimited potentials as a human being – regardless of where you are at right now.

‘We are powerful beyond measure’.

“Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness, that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented and fabulous? Actually, who are you not to be?” Marianne Williamson

Don’t let the usual stereo type of the word throw you, the spiritual simply means your contribution to the spirit of the place, the culture of kindness, care, support, respect, camaraderie, community to name a few. Your attitude impacts the environment and people around you. Having your heart in the right place is important to maintaining this culture we have all come to love. This is why it is important that when you see a new face, you welcome them

Further to this, putting heart behind your thoughts is an important part of your own journey. It transforms them from fragmented impulses into desires. As soon as you whole- heartedly want something to happen it will happen. To be a winner, you need to love winning. To become a champion, it must be your utmost desire; you must believe that you are one, you must visualize it, live like one, act like one.

“Champions aren’t made in gyms. Champions are made from something they have deep inside them-a desire, a dream, a vision. They have to have the skill, and the will. But the will must be stronger than the skill.”
